Empowering Traditional Leaders: Customary Court Training Concludes in Jonglei

Location: Bor, South Sudan

Last week, our team successfully completed a five-day intensive workshop for 30 traditional chiefs and customary authorities. The training focused on modern mediation techniques and conflict mitigation strategies designed to complement traditional justice systems.

By bridging the gap between customary practices and formal legal frameworks, these leaders are now better equipped to handle land disputes and community grievances. “This training has given us the tools to settle disputes before they escalate,” noted one of the participants. This initiative ensures that justice delivery remains locally owned, sustainable, and inclusive for all community members.
